1.What is ISC?
Internet Society of China (ISC) was inaugurated on May 25th, 2001. ISC is a non-profit organization that is sponsored by more than 70 sponsors including network access carriers, ISPs, facility manufacturers and research institutes etc. The current Chairman is Madam Hu Qiheng, the vice-president of CAST(China Association for Science and Technology), member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
2.What is the goal of ISC?
The goal of ISC is to promote healthy development of Internet in China and make it an active part of World Internet Community. ISC is expected to be a link between different members to form self-regulation and create good reputation of companies, to protect legal benefit of the members, to strengthen communication and coordination between community and government, improve the implementation of relevant policies and regulations, promote Internet application and public awareness, etc.
3.Who can join ISC?
The members of ISC include organizational members and personal members. The organizational members are legal Internet-related enterprises，scientific，educational or academic bodies with the permission of all level governments, civil affairs departments and Industrial and Commercial Bureau. The personal members of ISC not only should be Chinese citizens who have certain specialty or contribution in the field of Internet, but who have participated in the work of ISC's affiliated organization.
4.What is the structure of ISC?
The structure of ISC can be divided into: Congress of ISC, Board of ISC, Standing Committee, Chairman, Secretary General and Secretariat.
