Academician Hequan WU Elected President of ISC

Internet Society of China (ISC) held its Fourth members' Congress, and the first meeting of the Fourth Board meeting on July 5, 2013 in Beijing.

The members of the Fourth Board meeting were elected from the members' Congress, which was held every five years for a new term. The new session of Board meeting generated a new phase of leadership. Mr. Hequan WU, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, was elected as the new President of ISC. A group of new Vice-presidents were also set in this meeting, including Knet President Mr. Wei MAO, Qihoo President Mr. Hongyi ZHOU, UC President Mr. Yongfu YU, CNNIC Director Mr. Xiangyang HUANG, President of MIIT China Academy of Telecommunication Research Ms. Shumin CAO etc.

As for Madam Qiheng HU, the former President, was presented the ISC Honorary Member by the Board meeting, showing the great gratitude and respect for her contributions on China's Internet development and ISC's establishment.  

About Mr. Hequan WU

Wu Hequan,the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and expert in the optical fiber transmission network and the broadband information network,he is engaged in the R&D and the project management of the optical fiber transmission system and the broadband network The PCM basic group multiplexing terminals developed under his leadership has won the Chinese Sdence and Tednology Conference's Prize of 1978,and the SDH optical fiber transmission system project organized by him won the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 1988.He was once in charge of the development of the national standard on DTMB,and responsible for the technology management of the projects on Next Generation Internet (NGI),3G and its evolution tednology (LTE),etc. He was elected President of the Council of China Broadband Development Alliance in Feb, 2013.
