Internet Society of China
Internet Society of China (ISC) was inaugurated on 25th May, 2001 . ISC was sponsored by more than 70 sponsors, which include network access carriers, ISPs, facility manufacturers and research institutes etc. The current Chairman is Madam Hu Qiheng, the vice-president of CAST(China Association for Science and Technology), Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The office of ISC is located in Beijing.
ISC has 200 members including 177 organizational members and 23 personal members. Organizational members are legal companies, research institutes, academic associations, universities and other organizations that are engaged in various activities related with Internet and who agree with the by-laws of ISC and are willing to be a member of ISC. Personal members are individuals well-known in China Internet community.
The goal of ISC is to promote healthy development of Internet in China and make it an active part of World Internet Community. ISC is expected to be a link between different members to form self-regulation and create good reputation of companies, to protect legal benefit of the members, to strengthen communication and coordination between community and government, improve the implementation of relevant policies and regulations, promote Internet application and public awareness, etc.
