On May 24, Symposium on China Internet Development Strategy and the 20th Anniversary Symposium of Internet Society of China was held in Beijing. The theme of the symposium was “Digital economy promotes high-quality development and Integrated innovation contributes to Internet Power”. Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Wu Jichuan, former Minister of Information Industry, Hu Qiheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and member of the Advisory Committee of Internet Society of China, Wu Hequan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Advisory Committee of Internet Society of China, Zhang Peng, Deputy Director-General of the Information Development Bureau of Cyberspace Administration of China, Zhou Zhigao, Deputy Director of the Anti-Monopoly Bureau of State Administration for Market Regulation, and more than 40 leaders, experts and entrepreneurs from basic operating companies, Internet companies, banks and investment institutions, and research institutions attended the meeting. The symposium was chaired by Mr. Shang Bing, President of Internet Society of China.

Liu Liehong fully affirmed the role of Internet Society of China as a bridge in the industry, which has effectively promoted the sustainable and healthy development of China’s Internet. He pointed out that the whole industry should strive to create a new pattern of high-quality development of the industry from four aspects. Firstly, consolidate network capabilities. Increase co-construction and sharing efforts, and carry out 5G construction with high efficiency and low cost; promote the construction of industrial Internet network infrastructure, and deepen the application of identification in key links of production; promote network construction models based on virtual private networks and hybrid private networks to further improve IPv6 synergy and service capabilities. Secondly, insist on innovation-driven. Promote breakthroughs in key short-board areas such as high-end chips and basic software; guide leading enterprises to play a leading and supporting role, and encourage small and medium-sized enterprises to develop different application scenarios and innovative products based on data resources. Thirdly, deepen integrated applications. Promote the deep integration of 5G and vertical industries to form a business model that can be replicated and promoted; to accelerate the cultivation of industrial ecology, basic telecommunications companies and Internet companies should deepen the connection and cooperation with vertical industry companies, system integrators, equipment manufacturers and other industrial chain parties. Open up the intermediate link between technology and application. Fourthly, strengthen security. Strengthen the management of network security vulnerabilities, and carry out the “solid foundation and strong network” action for key telecommunications information infrastructure; give full play to the advantages of information and communication enterprises in terms of data resources and network technology, and provide capability output for digital security assurance in various industries.

Liu Liehong finally emphasized that the “14th Five-Year Plan” period is the first five years for China to start a new journey of building a socialist modernized country in an all-round way, and it is also the key five years for the construction of a strong network country to forge ahead and achieve key breakthroughs. Internet companies must actively participate in and serve the implementation of national strategies, and make new and greater contributions to accelerating the construction of a strong Internet country and vigorously developing the digital economy.

The guests conducted in-depth exchanges around the theme, the hot and difficult issues faced by Internet development and enterprise development. They affirmed the positive contributions Internet Society of China has made to the development of the industry since its establishment, and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions on the development of the industry, the work of ISC and the long-term healthy and orderly development of China’s Internet industry.
