The 18th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum was held in Kyoto, Japan from 8 to 12 October 2023, with the theme of "The internet we want - Empowering All People".

During the forum, a Lightning Talk on the theme of "Emerging Tech and Solutions for Digital Inclusion" was jointly hosted by the Internet Society of China (ISC) and China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) and co-organized by China IGF.

Huang Chengqing, Vice President of ISC and Director General of China IGF shared the practice for improving the aging of Internet applications in China, including encouraging policy design, standard, research and formulation, technological innovation, and public welfare actions to actively promote an inclusive digital society benefiting everyone.

Zhang Xiao, Deputy Director of CNNIC and Executive Deputy Director of China IGF stressed how to narrow the digital divide and enhance digital inclusion from the perspectives of strengthening network connectivity, deepening the construction of digital infrastructure in rural areas, improving digital literacy, and enhancing the innovation and quality of network services.

Gu Haiyan, general manager of the Legal Department of Sina Group, introduced the work and practice of Sina Weibo in developing senior-friendly applications, providing voice-aided system, optimizing visual design and strengthening privacy protection, and proposed that digital empowerment was an important basis for helping vulnerable groups to enjoy the benefits and sustainable development of digital economy.

ISC has organized consecutively 2 sessions of side event on the theme of aging during the IGF Forum, aiming to call on all parties to strengthen digital cooperation, narrow the digital divide, and promote the inclusive and sustainable development of the Internet.
