The Global Development Initiative Digital Cooperation Forum held in 2025 WIC

The 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit kicked off in the ancient water town of Wuzhen in east China's Zhejiang Province on Nov 7th.


This year's edition, themed "Forging an Open, Cooperative, Secure and Inclusive Future of Digital Intelligence -- Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace," includes 24 sub-forums on topics such as the China-proposed Global Development Initiative, digital economy, AI and data governance, along with a series of activities.


In the morning of Nov 8th, the Global Development Initiative Digital Cooperation Forum was held in the 2025 WIC event. The forum was co-hosted by Cyberspace Administration of China, and the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, co-organized by Internet Society of China, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. 


To further deepen and solidify digital cooperation under the GDI, high-level representatives from governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia and civil society worldwide were inivted to share their insights. Through in-depth discussions on digital inclusive growth, the forum aimed to build consensus on digital cooperation, advance the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promote the building of a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

and New Citizenship for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, H.E. Alexander Teabo, Minister, Ministry of Information, Communications and

Transport of Kiribati, H.E. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister, Ministry of ICT & National Guidance of Uganda, and H.E. Zhao Houlin, Honorary Chairman, China Institute of Communications; Former Secretary-General, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) attended the Forum and delivered opening remark. 


Speakers and panelists from NTRA of Egypt, Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs of Indonesia, GMSA, WEF etc were invited to deliver keynote and join the panel discussion on theme "Accelerating Integrated Innovation to Unleash Vitality of New Technology Empowerment". 


The Global Development Initiative (GDI) has evolved from China's proposal to international consensus, and from cooperative concept to joint action. The initiative has prioritized enhancing cooperation in such areas as the digital economy and connectivity, contributing China's solutions and injecting China's strength for promoting global sustainable development. After the meeting, the Forum released an Action Initiative on GDI Digital Inclusiveness.
