On March 17, the General Meeting of Election of the APEC SME Center for IT Promotion and the First Working Meeting of the Second Council were held in Shenzhen.

As an important platform established under the APEC cooperation framework, the APEC SME Center for IT Promotion was founded in 2017, tasked with promoting the informatization development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Asia-Pacific region. The Internet Society of China (ISC) serves as its Council Chair Unit.

The Genenal meeting reviewed and adopted the work report and financial report of the First Council. It elected the new Board of Directors, Chair, Vice chairs, and Secretary-general of the Second Council. Huang Chengqing, Vice President of ISC, was elected Chair of the Second Council, and Dai Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of ISC, was appointed as Secretary-General.

As for the coming years, the new council will carry out works in five key areas:

First, to build an important platform for the digital transformation of Asia-Pacific SMEs, develop SME intelligent agents, and empower the development of Asia-Pacific SMEs.

Second, to establish a key platform for capacity building and talent cultivation, regularly release digitalization indexes focusing on SME informatization and digital intelligence, and provide high-quality consulting and training services, so that the whole society can understand the development progress of SMEs.

Third, to construct a major platform for exchange, cooperation and ecological connectivity, build a platform for SMEs to "attract investment and go global", and create more cooperation opportunities for SMEs.

Fourth, to set up a key platform for regional knowledge sharing and research support, and regularly release research reports on SME informatization and digital intelligence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Fifth, to establish an important platform supporting the international development of SMEs,  organize annual forum and expo on SME informatization and digital intelligence in the Asia-Pacific region, and build a regional exchange platform for the Asia-Pacific area.

Relying on Shenzhen as its pilot and base, the Center will implement the above work and drive the common development of SMEs across the Asia-Pacific region.
